NEWS

15/07/2021
We have dropped the 100-mile option, just not enough takers to make it viable, now edited down to just 50-miles...
With the announcement of our new date comes the announcement of our new charity partner! We have teamed up with Happy Days Homeless Charity an amazing charity doing some fantastic work in Calderdale and Kirklees, getting homeless men off the streets and into independent living.  Please click the image and check them out!

All the drop events are under new management as of March 20th 2021, all previous entries are carried over to future events, if you can't attend the new event date it is possible to defer your place to a future event, but this can only be done no later than 12 weeks prior to event day.

THE DROP

A different kind of race

Details:

The Drop - 50

The Drop - 50
Using a little bit of military know how we have come up with possibly the most challenging race in the UK!

At registration, you will hand over all electronic devices, phones, watches and money! In return you will be given a race number and an emergency bag*. You will then seal these items in the bag so you can take them with you BUT open the bag before you finish and you will be disqualified.

You will be placed in our vehicle, blindfolded** and then driven to a location 100 miles away, (as the crow flies) from the event centre. Here you will be released, all you have to do is make your way back to the event centre.

No Map
No GPS
No Route

No Money
No Help
No Compass

You are fully self-sufficient from the moment you leave the vehicle, make your own way. So run, walk or crawl your way back.

Be warned now, the distances are as the crow flies and we won't be coming to save you.

**blindfolded, we will be using blackout safety goggles, we appreciate that some people may have problems but don't worry we have an alternative!

CUT OFF::
20 Hours (this might seem a long time but, you could potentially run 60+ miles)

Entry for the Drop 100-mile includes a personal GPS tracker supplied by Open Tracking (the same as used on the Spine Race!). Your friends and family will be able to follow your adventure live through a weblink we will supply two days before event day.

We strongly discourage support crews of any kind but we understand some of you are a little soft!
We will let your crew know the area you will be dropped but not the location, they are allowed to shadow you but, if they interfere at all with your route choice, offer any support beyond a smiley face and a bag of crisps, you WILL be named, shamed and binned! (this info will only be released to them when you are less than 15 mile from the drop point!)

Rules:

The following will get you disqualified;
  • Using of a GPS device. Recording your progress is acceptable, but the device you use will have to be sealed in the emergency bag. (We will supply this and seal it for you!)
  • Using a map other than any that we choose to give you, See example below!
  • Using anything except your own two legs to get you to the finish!
  • Breaking the seal on the emergency kit bag

There are several things that you will need on the day to help you to perform your best. The following list is just a suggestion of what we have found useful - talk to other athletes, Join a local club who will be able to give you some great advice and develop a list to best suit you.
* Warm/suitable clothes for prior to and after the event, these can be left on the bus and will be at the event centre on your return.
* Race numbers - pinned/attached to your race t-shirt/top or race belt, and any medical conditions clearly written on the back of your number.
You will need to show your race numbers for the duration of the event and at prize giving.
