HQ has moved – same road, new address:
Up & Running, Unit 4, Barton Arcade, Manchester M3 2BH
Possibly the most thrilling and unpredictable race in the UK, with a dash of military know-how. Are you ready to push yourself to the limit?
Choose your mission: 10 miles or 15 miles. Go solo or tackle it as a team.
Registration: Hand in all electronic devices, watches, and navigation aids. In return, you’ll be issued with your race number and sealed emergency bag.
The Journey Begins: Board the bus, don a blackout blindfold (or safety goggles if needed), and prepare to be driven to a secret drop-off point.
The Challenge: From there, it’s simple… get back to HQ. Distances are measured as the crow flies – but the ground you cover will almost certainly be longer.
No map
No GPS
No compass
No route
No outside help
From the moment you step off the bus, you’re on your own. Run, walk, or crawl – just make your way back using nothing but your wits, grit, and sense of direction.
Distances are measured as the crow flies. The actual distance will be longer. Read that again.
Blindfolds can be swapped for blackout goggles if preferred – speak to us if you have concerns.
No GPS: Devices must remain sealed in your emergency bag (yes, you carry it with you).
No maps: Unless we issue one on the day, you won’t have one.
No shortcuts: You must complete the mission on foot, under your own steam.
Emergency bag integrity: Break the seal and you’re disqualified.
It’s your responsibility to read the FAQs before event day. Here you’ll find everything you need to know: start times, cut-off times, kit requirements, and more. The FAQ link is in the menu bar.
The Drop is the ultimate test of resilience, adaptability, and resourcefulness. Step off the bus, lose the blindfold, and face the unknown.
Our GPS tracking system is included as part of our safety protocol and also gives you the option to share your mission progress with friends and family. Access is password-protected for your security, and login details will be sent a few days before the event.
Accuracy: Trackers are typically accurate to within 5 metres, though tall buildings or black spots may cause short delays. Your location may “catch up” after a gap — this is normal.
Placement Matters: For the best signal, keep the tracker in an outside pocket with a clear view of the sky. Poor placement reduces accuracy — this applies to all GPS systems.
If you wish to share your progress:
Send your friends or family the event website link.
Provide them with the login details we’ll send you.
They can search by your bib or tracker number to follow your mission.
Viewers can also customise the map — either following just your tracker or adding others. (It can be fun watching someone take the “scenic route”…)
Tracker Returns: Trackers must be handed back to staff at the end of the event. Lost or unreturned trackers will incur a £175 replacement fee.
Safety First: As organisers, we have access to extra safety features beyond those you see.
Responsibility: If you choose to share the tracking link, it’s your responsibility to manage who has access. We will not take calls or pass login details to “friends or relatives.”
