THE SUN
HOW TO NAVIGATE WITH YOUR WATCH
Keep your watch level and point the hour hand at the sun. (doesn't matter what time of day you do this as long as the watch has the correct time on it!) if it is difficulty to see the sun; overcast, too bright, simply point at a shadow from a thin object, a lamppost works well, by pointing the hour hand at the shadow you are basically pointing at the sun.
USE YOUR WATCH FACE TO WORK OUT NORTH & SOUTH
With the hour hand pointed at the sun, there is an area between the hour hand and the 12 o’clock. Divide this area in half the midway is your north-south divide. The point closest to the sun is South, on the other side of the watch this will be north.

MOSS
Moss general grows on the North side of trees and other services but, it can play little tricks on you so be careful.
Moss general doesn't care if its North or South facing, what it does care about is moisture, so will nearly always find a home in damp areas.
TO NAVIGATE WITH MOSS
First ask, why is it growing here? Why is the surface moist?

- Any area less than 50 cm from the ground can be discarded as this is most likely caused by water evaporating from the floor.
- Water slowly dipping through a wall or from branches above, this will give Moss just what it needs to thrive even South facing
- Anyplace where water can be caught; rough bark, stone walls, shallow holes
